Students in this program learn to assist in a daycare program.  They participate in planning and implementing a laboratory preschool program located at the Tech Center.  Here they gain hands-on experience working with three year old children from the community.  Students learn about daycare regulations such as teacher/student ratios, health and safety issues, and developmentally suitable practices.  They learn important job-related skills such as working as a team, how to communicate with children and adults, and appropriate on the job behavior.  They gain practical experience reading aloud to a group of children, creating story boards, singing songs and leading games, promoting dramatic and creative play, and exploring materials and other activities in an early childhood environment.
