College credit and tuition awards are available to Tech Center students who complete a prescribed program of study and attain sufficient levels of success equivalent to that school’s accepted standards. Transferable credit is also available with minimal course registration fees at several colleges. The information below lists current articulation agreements with maximum credit to be awarded for the 2009-2010 school year. Please note that additional articulation agreements are currently under review and may be added to this list. Course Description

Environmental Science Academy at Teatown Lake Reservation in Yorktown. This fully-equipped outdoor education center offers students exciting opportunities to conduct hands-on research in aquatic ecology, forest ecology, meteorology, air quality, and all aspects of environmental science. As a participant, you will: prepare a portfolio; communicate on-line with other environmental students and researchers; learn research methodology and applicable computer software; learn appropriate statistical techniques; produce, present, and defend an independent/team project; and will do a long term internship in the community working in the field.

You will hear guest speakers who are experts in various fields of environmental science and will attend seminars on and off site. Upon successful completion of this course of study, you will earn credits –three in environmental science, one in honors science, one in English, one in government and economics, and one-half credit in physical education. You can earn 9 college credits: 3 in Introduction to Environmental Science from SUNY Morrisville, 3 in Public Affairs from Syracuse University (SUPA), and 3 in Comp and Lit I from WCC?SUNY. To qualify for this program, you must have completed Regents math and Regents science courses; you will also be interviewed by the Academy faculty. The program runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each school day at Teatown Lake Reservation.
