Tech Center students came out on top at the state SkillsUSA competition, which took place in April in Syracuse.

Emily Park, Mahopac, and Corinne Zastenchik, Putnam Valley, took first place in Digital Cinema Production. Joseph Vacarro and Amber Wright, both from Carmel, took first place in Television Video Production. Medical Assistant student Renee Susa, Somers, took third place for the Medical Assistant category.

The first place winners will go on to compete in the national competition in Louisville, KY, June 19-24.

TV Production and Digital Film teacher Liz Marques said her students are looking forward to the event. “We are very excited to be representing New York in these national competitions,” Marques said.

SkillsUSA is a nationwide partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce. The competition helps students hone their skills by enabling them to compete with their peers at the highest level.
