June 17, 2019

From singing to dancing to guitar playing, Putnam |Northern Westchester BOCES students showed America who’s got talent at the annual Walden Talent Show.

Walden and Pines Bridge School students sang and danced to “Shake It Off,” “Celebration” and “We Will Rock You” – and rock the house they did on Friday before an appreciative audience of their families, friends and PNW BOCES teaching and support staff.

Tommy, backed by a band of PNW BOCES staffers, wowed the crowd with his bass guitar playing tunes like “Iron Man” and “Screaming for Vengeance.” River had the audience moving along with her rendition of “Shake It Off.” Alexandria introduced her original song “Viral” and Chase lit up the room with his version of “Ride.” Chris and Arturo masqueraded as Freddie Mercury as Ray, Erin and Cayla backed them up as the band.

There were several large group numbers, including performances by the BOCES Dance Team and the newly formed Walden Singers.

Melissa Bayeur’s class, including Christian, Yani, David, Michael, Aiden, Magnus, Gavin and Luciano, had fun performing “Banana, Banana Meatball,” while Andrea Vezos’ class, Jordan, Bryan, Luis, Daniel, Danny and Mark, sang “The Months of the Year.”

Students, including Joel, Jacob, Jaden, Joseph, Jay and Jakai, took part in both solo and group dance numbers to songs like “Stayin’ Alive” and “World of Light.”

Debra Canzio, who works with art teacher Jesse Steiner to infuse the arts into the school experience at Pines Bridge and Walden, served as emcee, introducing the acts and shining the spotlight on the student performers.
