Student Chefs Put Their Hearts Into Valentine’s Day Luncheon

February 14, 2018

What better way to celebrate Valentine’s Day than at a luncheon at the student-run Educated Palate restaurant? Hospitality students on the campus of Putnam | Northern Westchester BOCES put their hearts and passion into preparing and serving a three-course meal to local patrons.
Diners were treated to a composed green salad with molasses vinaigrette and Parmesan chips to start. Next up was sliced roast pork loin with caramelized onion, roasted garlic potatoes and sautéed green beans. Another choice was oven-roasted cod fillet with a lemon parsley supreme sauce and quinoa pilaf. For dessert: chocolate fantasy cake.
Hospitality students at The Tech Center at PNW BOCES learn cooking and baking/pastry arts, food safety, sanitation, and nutrition in addition to the business end of running a restaurant. They get hands-on experience via the Educated Palate restaurant and by catering special events.
Students Alex Carneiro (Mahopac) and Nicholas Petroni (Somers) take their work at the student-run Educated Palate restaurant seriously.
