Sports Medicine Students Learn EMS History

May 06, 2019

Sports Medicine students learned the ins and outs of emergency response and the history of EMS (Emergency Medical Services) from CTE teacher Robert Cuomo recently.

“My students will be entering into the allied health fields, so it is important that they understand the role of first responders including EMTs and paramedics and how they collaborate with physicians in the hospital,” said Sports Medicine teacher Will Brightman.

“Mr Cuomo covered the history of the EMS and it’s evolution, along with different levels of certification and advanced life-saving skills such as IV therapy, defibrillation, and endotracheal intubation. The students got to understand the role of the first responder on a more detailed level.”
