Fox Meadow Graduates Ready for Future

Fox Meadow High School graduates were urged Monday to take the tools they have learned and use them to carve a successful future in the world.
“Each of you has grown tremendously,” Principal Nicole Ginexi told the 11 graduates, dressed in red caps and gowns, at a ceremony at the high school’s Yorktown campus. Ginexi said the graduates had all overcome significant challenges to earn their diplomas and now could draw on the education and communication skills they had mastered at Fox Meadow to succeed.

Creative Services Department Recognized for Excellence

The Creative Services Department at Putnam | Northern Westchester BOCES was recognized for outstanding graphic design and video production by the National School Public Relations Association this week.

Art Director and Graphic Design Specialist Tricia Herbold won an Award of Excellence in the Special Purpose Publication category for a brochure on PNW BOCES Mandarin Chinese initiative produced in collaboration with School Communications.


BOCES Staff Celebrate a Successful School Year

A picture-perfect summer day set the scene, as the entire Putnam | Northern Westchester BOCES staff gathered together on the Yorktown campus to enjoy brunch, have some fun, and celebrate the conclusion of another successful school year. The end-of-year gathering is a much-anticipated tradition that marks the beginning of summer for many.

District Superintendent Dr. James Ryan welcomed the standing-room-only crowd in the Walden School gym, and thanked each and every department for their efforts throughout the year. He specifically cited the many wonderful year-end celebrations at BOCES’ schools and programs and praised the agency for providing students with the kind of “quality, first-class experiences they would see at their home campuses.”

School Communications Shines in National Competition

The School Communications Service at Putnam | Northern Westchester BOCES received 10 awards from the National School Public Relations Association for outstanding work in newsletters, digital media, writing, graphic design and videos as well as capital project and special purpose communications.

“The awards we received speak to the high quality of work and professionalism of the School Communications Service at Putnam | Northern Westchester BOCES,” said Communications Director Ellen Lane. “I am honored to work with such a talented group of communications experts and to be able to spread the word about the outstanding education offered in our partner districts.”


Pines Bridge School’s Transitions Program Celebrates Class of 2019!

Ten students graduated on Friday from the Transitions Program at the Pines Bridge School at a ceremony that celebrated their growth and looked ahead to the future.
The graduates – Christopher Colmey of Mahopac; Brennan Baumann of Carmel; Tatiana Carpenter of Brewster; Raphael Hodge of Yorktown; Erin Jones of Katonah-Lewisboro; Zachary Malota of Irvington; Stephanie Rodriguez of New York City; Caroline Shu of Harrison; and Bianca Simone of Peekskill – each entered the Walden Learning Center at the PNW BOCES Yorktown campus to cheers from their families, friends and teaching and support staff. Jessica Wheeler of Somers, who could not attend the ceremony because of an injury, also graduated.


Spotlight on Hendrick Hudson School District

June 20, 2019

Fourth graders entered a giant, inflatable globe and took a virtual tour around the world. First-grade campers looked at traditional fairytales through a scientific lens. A hissing Madagascar cockroach served as a rainforest ambassador during a third- grade classroom activity on the music, culture, plants and wildlife of the Amazon rainforest.

The Hendrick Hudson School District is known for providing its elementary students with unique and engaging ways to learn about science and technology, whether through in-class activities or summer programs.
