DUTIES:
The Per Diem Psychologist Evaluator works on a per diem basis for the Guidance and Child Study Center at Putnam/Northern Westchester BOCES. School Psychologist (Leave Replacement)

DUTIES:
Putnam|Northern Westchester BOCES anticipates an opening for a Leave Replacement School Psychologist to work with students with disabilities attending PNW BOCES programs. Duties will include conducting psychological assessments of referred students and making specific recommendations regarding educational programming. Psychologists must be able to determine the reason(s) for the requested assessments and determine which testing instruments and protocols will best answer the primary referral questions. Additional duties include completing psycho-educational assessments, providing indicated IEP individual and group counseling, collaborating with other service providers, consulting with and providing support to special education teachers, conducting Functional Behavior Assessments and Behavior Intervention Plans, consulting with and providing support to parents and family members, providing referral and linking services, assisting families in accessing support services, and completing required documentation of services provided.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:
Certified NYS School Psychologist
Bilingual Extension and BCBA preferred

Crisis Intervention Specialist

DUTIES:
Putnam/Northern Westchester BOCES is seeking a Teacher Aide or Teaching Assistant to work one-on-one in small group settings with students that have behavioral challenges to deescalate crisis situations where the student(s) are acting out; provide program-wide, active response to instructional staff when a crisis situation emerges; complete post event debriefing and associated paperwork documenting a crisis situation including but not limited to situations when students present a danger to oneself or others; and provide turnkey training to staff members and parents on research-based intervention strategies. There is a $3,000 annual stipend for this appointment.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:
Crisis Intervention Specialists must maintain their Therapeutic Crisis Intervention certification in order to remain in their role and receive their stipend.

Successful candidates will work in an exciting, collaborative, team based environment where they will follow developed lesson plans in various career and trade area programs. Some examples of substitute duties include: Maintaining a safe classroom environment, supervision of students in various classroom settings such as technical classrooms and computer labs.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must has a desire to work with students in grades 10-12, and to assist them in achieving their goals in their chosen field of study. Must be organized, thoughtful, positive, and able to follow developed lesson plans. Good communication skills to deal effectively with students, staff, and administrators.
