DUTIES:
Putnam/Northern Westchester BOCES has an immediate opening for a full-time Assistant, Director of Special Education. This position will provide assistance to the Special Education Director in areas including, but not limited to: oversight and coordination of all special education program development and delivery; departmental budgeting and financial control; departmental staffing requirements and assignments; the student referral and acceptance processes; departmental professional development planning and administration; departmental marketing and outreach; the identification and creation of new programs and services to meet customer needs. Candidate will also assist in areas such as: capacity building among BOCES special education leaders, teachers, and staff; continuity of support among administrative personnel; supervision of staff as needed. Will assist Special Education administrators to create operational efficiencies and consistency across the department.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge of Special Education laws and regulations; experience creating high quality, cost-effective programs and services to meet changing regional needs; expertise in program development, supervision and budgeting; proven ability as a rigorous academic leader involving the common core standards and effective instructional practices for students with disabilities; be an innovative planner and an effective communicator who has developed positive relationships with colleagues, faculty, staff, students and parents. A minimum of five years of administrative experience in a special education leadership position; a degree in special education or a related field as well as New York State district level administrative certification.

DUTIES:
Putnam/Northern Westchester BOCES is seeking a full-time Bilingual Psychologist & Evaluation Specialist for the Guidance & Child Study Center Department. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Conduct Bilingual/Monolingual Psychoeducational Evaluations and Social Histories
  • Facilitate Therapeutic Crisis Intervention in School (TCIS) trainings (willingness to become certified)
  • Supervise the Evaluation, Interpreter and Translation Services and Testing Center
  • Supervise a multidisciplinary team of consultants
  • Plan/develop workshop offerings for School Psychologists and other helping professionals as needed
  • Facilitate Regional School Psychologist Forum and co-facilitate the Regional School Social Worker Forum, Director of Guidance Forum and ESL Study Group
  • Assist in the planning and/or facilitation of department events

 

QUALIFICATIONS:
NYS School Psychologist, Bilingual Extension-Spanish, School District Leader (SDL)or School Building Leader (SBL)

High school diploma required. Must be physically able to perform job related duties, including lifting 40 lbs. and climbing ladders. Must speak and read English fluently.

Substitute Teacher

Substitute teachers are needed to work on a per diem basis for the Career and Tech Center at PNW BOCES. Successful candidates will work in an exciting, collaborative, team based environment where they will follow developed lesson plans in various career and trade area programs. Some examples of substitute duties include: Maintaining a safe classroom environment, supervision of students in various classroom settings such as technical classrooms and computer labs.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must has a desire to work with students in grades 10-12, and to assist them in achieving their goals in their chosen field of study. Must be organized, thoughtful, positive, and able to follow developed lesson plans. Good communication skills to deal effectively with students, staff, and administrators. Teacher or Teaching Assistant certification preferred, but not required. Bilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
