Hi everyone -

I just got back from my trip and noticed that on Channel Thirteen at 10 p.m. on October 23rd there is what looks like a great progam for our China Unit.  The series is Independent Lens and the program follows three 8-year old Chinese students who are running for office in school.  The name of the program is "Please Vote For Me."  I would tape it and preiew it to see if it is suitable for your students.  I will do the same.  There are also teacher materials at www.pbs.org/independentlens/pleasevoteforme

I watched the Independent Lens film Please Vote for Me.  I found it fascinating.  There is a website http://www.pbs.org/independentlens/pleasevoteforme/film.html  that has video excerpts, short essays, a bit of interactive activity, ad background on the Chinese educational system.  I highly recommend it.
