Freerice is a marvelous website, http://www.freerice.com/index.php that provides for the donation of rice to areas in need when you answer vocabulary questions correctly. The donations are paid for by corporate sponsors and administered by the United Nations. You could use it as a challenge for your students and their families as well as for yourself. Talk about authentic learning - and literacy!
