I received a question about the right of parents to see the 5th Grade Social Studies Assessment test papers for their child. The Grade 5 Elementary-Level Social Studies Test Manual for Administrators and Teachers 2007 has the following to say:
Review of Answer Papers by Students and Parents
"Students and parents/guardians of students who have taken the Grade 5
Elementary-Level Social Studies Test have the right to review student answer
papers after the scores have been recorded. Answer papers should be reviewed
in the presence of the principal, or the principal's designee, to ensure
that no changes are made on the answer papers as they are being reviewed.
The principal may also use a copy of the student's answer papers for this
purpose. After review, a parent/guardian may be provided a copy of his or
her child's test and answer paper."
