Welcome
Putnam/Northern Westchester BOCES Arts in Education service is a comprehensive
support service to assist in the planning, scheduling, booking and evaluation
of the full range of arts-related consultant services, including performances,
artists-in-residencies in the schools, class field trips to the theater
and museums. It provides a cost-effective way for school districts to
bring arts programs to their students.

How It Works

PTA and/or school staff selects program, contacts artist, agrees
on date and cost.

BOCES contracts and pays performer, and bills district.

The following year, the school district is reimbursed for part of
the cost of the programs based on the district's state aid formula.

ON LINE Resource
Directory describes programs by category: music, vocal,
theatre arts; drama,, storytelling, poetry, literary arts, visual
arts, photography, special education, dance; puppetry, musical theatre,
opera, multi-media, music learning, community organizations and has
a subject index making location of specific programs easier.
PTAs/school staff can use this directory to make their selections,
but are not limited to these programs. Aid is also available for theatre
and museum visits, performances, workshops or residencies; participation
fees to museums or art councils; and staff development consultants
and workshops.

Evaluation Book lists programs used by schools; helps PTA’s/school
staff make better decisions.

Monthly calendar enables PTA's/school staff to preview programs in
local schools.

Monthly newsletter allows PTA's/school staff to share information
about programs.
Benefits to School Districts

Following year, districts receive state aid on programs, thereby
making additional money available for more student arts programs.
