SCHOOL VIOLENCE PREVENTION & INTERVENTION TWO-HOUR NEW TEACHER CERTIFICATION
Candidates applying for New York State teacher certification must complete
two hours of coursework in school violence prevention and intervention.
Putnam/Northern Westchester BOCES is providing a two-hour certification
course for new teachers to meet this requirement. A certificate will be
distributed to participants at the completion of the course.
The course is an overview of:
- The warning signs within a developmental and social context that
relate to violence and other troubling behaviors in children
Statutes, regulations, and policies relating to a safe nonviolent
school climate
- Integration of social and problem solving skill development for students
to promote a nonviolent school climate and enhance learning
