Substitute Finder

The Substitute Finder (SubFinder) Service provides a Windows-based automated call-in, call-out system for reporting absences and securing substitutes. WebConnect provides the Internet link to SubFinder. The system serves school districts and district staff members. It manages absences and substitute assignments and can be used as an attendance management system for all staff. The payroll interface option allows participating districts to take absence and job information and integrate it with the district’s payroll or human resources system.

Each district interviews and hires its own substitutes. Substitutes are selected by position (teacher, lunch monitor, nurse) and school. Building administrators determine priority lists by teacher, grade level or subject area. Substitutes may work in several schools and districts. BOCES coordinates the lists of priority substitutes.

The system is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It tracks every detail of each absence automatically. Employees can record absences up to 120 days in advance or up to an hour before the absence. Districts and teachers can request specific substitutes. Priority lists are called first. Daily, weekly, monthly and yearly absence reports are available to the district, listing the employee who was absent, the reason for the absence, the length, whether the position was filled, and by whom. Substitutes no longer have to fill out time sheets.
