Special Education Certification Pathway

 

The philosophy of the Special Education program is based on the fundamental belief that all children, regardless of learning and behavioral differences, are entitled to a free, appropriate education and should be provided with meaningful instruction in the least restrictive environment. The purpose is to prepare outstanding teachers who can meet the challenges of today’s 21st century classrooms.

REQUIRED COURSES OF THE PROGRAM ARE:

  • Students with Disabilities - 12 Credits
  • Foundations of Special Education (EDU 5393)
  • Assessment, Diagnosis and Evaluation of Special Education (EDU 5083)
  • Curriculum and Instruction for Special Education (EDU 5085)
  • Managing the Environment for Special Education (EDU 5130)

* Any relevant courses you have taken anywhere, undergrad, grad, anytime, may count towards these requirements.
